2010-06-24Great PictureI am a huge Samsung fan, this is my 3rd one in my house. The price is always competitive, but the quality seems to exceed the other brands I’ve had. This is an awesome TV. We have it in our living room about 15 feet away, still feels like a movie screen. It’s a bit of a shock to get it out of the box and my neighbor had to help me lift it up on a tv stand. The picture is fantastic, full 1080P and the 600hz refresh (60 hz actual, then dynamically accelerated) is great. No motion blur on sports, nice deep blacks when watching movies. I do not have a received, but with this TV it’s not really necessary. 4 HDMI inputs are enough for all my gadgets, and it has digital sound output so I could use it with my stereo easily. This was the easiest purchase I’ve made on amazon. TV does not have a very loud buzzing to me. I do hear a hum when it’s not engaged on an input, but watching tv at normal level volume is fine, no buzz sound. I think if you place the magnet cores supplied on the cables, this does help. I’m going to get a Monster power conditioner for all my components anyhow, this should help alleviate the noise on the electrical lines. Happy viewing, this TV is amazing for games, blu-ray, and regular HD TV viewing.

2010-05-14Plasma Rule’sOk everyone needs to understand there is no perfect HD technology, but this one comes close. I have owned all of the different technologies and for picture clarity and refresh rate, Samsung’s plasma rules. Yes there is a slight “plasma hum” but if you understand the physics’ of plasma you know it is unavoidable without a huge chassis and with any volume above ambient home noise it is negligible. Yes plasma will always use more power than LED, LCD, or projectors, however for pure visual enjoyment these things are unbeatable. Shipping from 6ave was reliable and the contracted shipper was great in our case. Very happy after just a week of ownership!

2010-03-31Very PleasedWe had to replace a Vizio 50 inch plasma. I wanted to step up the size, so I read a lot of reviews for different brands, and for plasma vs LCD/LED sets. I’ve always been happy with my plasma set, and after seeing lots of LCD sets in stores, the jutter really bothered me, even on the newest sets with the highest refresh rates. So I decided to stick with plasma. Amazon had a good deal on the Samsung PN58B550 so we pulled the trigger. We were going to be out of town for a few days, so we scheduled delivery in about a week and a half. the delivery was great. Two men brought it in the house, out of the box and set up where we wanted. Hooked it up and plugged it in to make sure everything was working OK. I had seen some reviews that thought the swivel base on these was weak, but I was impressed with how solid ours was. We hung it on the wall, so aren’t using the base, but if it seems weak or loose, first thing I’d do is tighten all the mounting screws on the backside. We’ve been running the set for about a month now. The picture is outstanding, pretty much right out of the box. We are on satellite, so we only use the 1080 when we watch Blu-rays, but it’s great for all our regular tv viewing. I think the sound on this set is great, I haven’t even hooked up the surround sound yet. The remote is nice, but we mostly use the satellite receiver remote. I’ve run the scrolling feature a couple times, to prevent burn in, and have not noticed any problem with that issue I give this TV great marks overall for picture, sound, and appearance. Sports and fast action scenes are flawless! And it’s a big sucker!

2010-07-19Wow! Latest technology from Westinghouse? And great value, too!After researching the purchase of 2 LCD TV’s for my kids, I was shopping around and discovered this Westinghouse. I actually didn’t think it would be a serious TV, as it was less money that comparable LCD TV’s sitting on either side of it on the stores shelf. All were on, and set to the same channel. So comparisons were easy! I was prepared to hate the Westinghouse, thinking is was in the same class as some of the “no name” brand sets..junk! After all it was less than $400.00! But when we were getting ready to pick up the boxes of Phillips TV’s and put them in the cart to take home, we started reading the box thatthe Westinghouse was in. Did my eyes deceive me? Did it really say LED on it! No way. We walked over the the high end and expensive LCD TV’s. and the 32″ ones that said LED were $700.00 plus! Samsungs, Vizio, Panasonics, etc. First of all, an explanation for the “electronically challenged among us..like me! A regular LCD TV uses fluorescent edge lighting to shine thru the LCDs to make the picture viewable. Good enough! Then there are newer technology LCD TV’s with LED edge lighting…LED’s all the way around the screen shine thru and illuminate the TV screen. Saves energy because LEDs use a small fraction of the energy as the fluorescent lights. Better but the black and darker colors are not as “black”, and colors a bit washed out. BUT…the Westinghouse LED back lit LCD’s have black blacks! Deeper color, brighter, vibrant colors (wait till you see the yellows!). And way less energy, about the same as a 40 watt light bulb. And the TV is slim..I mean slim! 1″ thick and 14 1/2 lbs! Terrific featurers, nice price, outstanding technology for way less than others, all the featurers..great value over all! And I can’t even begin to tout the picture quality except to say you have got to see it yourself!

2010-07-14Great Buy!I have had good experiences with Westinghouse TV and monitors in the past so when i saw this LED TV at my local club at such a low price, I went ahead and get this and the 26″ for my guest bedroom and home office. This 32″ ends up in my office and 26″ in the guest bedroom (LOL, the original plan was the reversed). The image is just amazing. 1080i source from my satellite box, and my PC. I totally love it!! The viewing angle is wide enough for me to roll my chair around the office and still get a great picture. Another amazing thing is how thin and light it is. I mean my other 32″ LCD TV weights like almost twice heavier than this unit. I wish it has 4 HDMI rather than 2 but hey, for the price, i can’t complain. I highly recommend this TV for bedrooms and home offices because of the size. I think 32″ is too small for a living room. I have a surround sound speaker system in my office and using that combined with the TV, I feel like I am in my own private movie theater. Now how do get my wife to stuff bugging me and I will live a peaceful and happy life.

We have the BD570 for almost two weeks and like it a lot. It is very easy to use, particularly because the remote has a major section for the player and a small separate section to control the 47″ flat panel TV (the remote works with our VIZIO flat panel although VIZIO is not listed in the manual – a VIZIO representative told me that VIZIO TVs often have the same remote commands as LG). Picture quality via the HDMI cable is just great. Even classic DVDs look a lot better than on our old DVD player. Connecting to Netflix was easy – after registering the BD570 with Netflix on a PC it connected and showed our instant Netflix queue. Streaming works just great over our 4 Mbps DSL line. The player also supports VUDU and AccuWeather (where you can select multiple cities around the world), Pandora radio and PICASA. In addition you can view images from your digital camera when you plug the camera’s memory card into a USB reader that is connected to the BD570. We only wish it would also support HULU.

remote issuevery happy with picture , sound quality . liked the menu also but…the remote control very un-responsive ..it takes multiple tries to get it working…maybe i have a bad one ( tried new batteries didn’t work ) any ideas ?Does everything I wanted it to doGot it for Netflix, wireless connection and the browse options available on LG products that are not available on other players. It plays all the Blu ray disks and regular dvds that I threw at it. Have had it over a month without any issue. Keep in mind, I got it for Netflix wireless instant viewing, other players can do that but most only allow you to view one pre loaded instant queue, this one provides other queues of movies to make a selection from.Front “flip” panel is poorly designedThis unit was a breeze to hook up. One HDMI cable to the TV and plug it in. That simple. The setup for Netcast using WiFi or Ethernet is intuitive and easy to use. My wife is a bit electronically challenged and she had no problem doing it. Within ten minutes from opening the box, we were streaming a High Definition movie using our Netflix account. It made me want to go buy an LED TV! But the picture on our older, rear projection HDTV looked better than ever. So far, so good. We used the unit over the weekend and it performed wonderfully. On Sunday night we finished watching a movie and I ejected the DVD, only to find that the front flip down panel was askew. The plastic hinge pin had broken off on one side and the panel was close to falling off the unit. Two days of use and the front panel broke ! ! Now that’s what I call quality. Very disappointed in the weak front panel design. It would have been a very simple matter to just add a tenth of an inch of diameter to the pin during the designing and problem solved. Instead they built a unit that will likely have a rash of front panel failures. I would rate the picture quality and ease of use five stars. I would rate the quality one star. Too bad. This unit looked very promising after the first couple of days of use. Now it’s in the box headed back to the seller.Excellent BD PlayerI’ve owned this BD Player for about three months now and I am still a huge fan. It was very easy to setup. Getting it going on my wireless network took one try. The online features are very good. I’ve used this player to stream movies way more than I have to play blu-rays. If you have a good wireless network at home, I would highly recommend this player.This could change if #3 worksWhen I got my first one my biggest concern was that the internet capability worked. It was extremely easy to set up, took less than 20 minutes from box to netflix. The next day I went to play a disc and the door wouldn’t open, try after try. I got mine from bestbuy & the customer service there is outstanding, a 5 minute call & a replacement was on the way. Well it arrived today and I eagerly hooked it up and went straight to the dvd for a movie. Roughly 15 minutes into the movie, it froze and would not progress,altho it would go backwards. Weird. I am all for the benefit of the doubt so I grab another disc & it made it to the play screen at which point it would not accept the play command, kept putting up the circle with a slash through it. I am a believer of Murphys law as well, so I am hoping third time is a charm as this player looks nice and has a load of features that I really want. So I will update this review when #3 makes it way here

Great product: excellent picture quality (in HD) great design great apps (LOVE the Netflix app- quality is unsurpassed) and great remote. Only complaint really is that unless the black level is set so low that the tv is unviewable during the day there is somewhat significant backlight bleedthrough on large black areas- and not only at the corners or edges. On black title screens there is an odd mottled effect from the uneven blockage of backlighting. <br /> <br />Other than this one problem which I understand is corrected somehow in the current 8000 series I couldn’t be happier with my purhchase.

BuyingSamsung UN46C7000 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)Great picture. Turn off the Auto Motion PlusFantastic picture quality! Easy to set up and use. Shippers were great, unpacked the TV and made sure it worked before they left. The only complaint is I spent my 1st whole night wondering why all my shows looked the Soap Operas. Turns out this is caused by Samsung “Auto Motion Plus” feature that adds extra calculated frames to the video stream. Turning this off made the picture look as I expected (i.e. Law and Order’s proper gritty/jerky camera motion when the detectives are on the street). When this mode is off the tv is still running at 240Hz, but shows the same frames unaltered over and over just like the movie theater does rather than trying to “make stuff up” in between frames. I now only turn on the “Auto Motion Plus” when watching hockey.

The design looked like it was designed by apple. The back of the panels have enough ports for you to play in anything. I have an 55 inch Vizio LCD and this samsung LED completely destroys the Vizio LCD in quality. It is so light and thin that I lifted upstairs myself. Refresh rate is so high that the pictures looked fake (in a good way). Buying this is like having an art peice in your room. Even the remote controls are state of the art design. It looks metallic and expensive. When my girls come over they look at it and play with it cause it looks that good. WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS FOR THE 3D. Buy it for the LED TV. This 3D is the worst I have seen. The quality for 3D is so poor that I invited 4 friends over the see it. One got dizzy, the other ones said the picture looks fuzzy. Which is true, they blur the background making the image quality fuzzy just to create a 3D effect that is garbarge to my eyes. If I stared at it for too long my eyes might bleed. I hope this is a firmware issue and that samsung can eventually update this technology…. Even with the “free” 3D glasses they gave me, I can honestly say it was not worth it. 4 Stars for the LED TV. ZERO stars for the 3D technology Samsung invented.

After purchasing this TV, on the second day, the menu would pop up and try to change to component or another mode (like store demo mode) or it would change the viewing settings from “normal” to the “spanish soap opera” looking one while we were watching TV. The bottom right of the screen has a red light that indicates that the remote is being used and it was constantly flashing during the times it was acting possessed or someone was inadvertently sitting on the remote. After taking out the batteries on the remote, it continued. In fact, it got so bad that we couldn’t do anything with the TV, we couldn’t even turn it off- we had to unplug it for a bit. Then it would be ok for a short while. After calling Samsung, they directed us to a local TV repair place. We described the problem and they contacted Samsung. The TV repair place didn’t even bother coming out, they wanted to order the part that was necessary to fix it. Because of this issue and the flashlighting in the corners of the screen, we decided to return it. I honestly didn’t want a TV that had to be worked on after the second day. The TV repair place was really pressing us to get it fixed, but Amazon said they would not take it back if it had any work done on it. So we returned it as is. We have been waiting for the refund to get the UN46C8000, and I started looking at the reviews and the comments for that one. Apparently, others have been having this problem with the other model as well! So just be careful. I don’t know how well it works after being fixed, but it appears to be a very common problem with this years models.

2010-07-18Very Pleased!This is my first flatscreen TV. I bought the TV based on 4 specific features: 120Hz refresh rate, the LED backlight (and resulting power savings), the ability to play video files from USB, and 24P Real Cinema feature. I’m glad I made the purchase. Setup was easy, with only 8 screws to attach the stand to the TV. The unit is stable. I’m impressed by how thin the TV is. All the front lights can be turned off. The screen is a matte finish (no reflective cover). The TV doesn’t have networking capability, but I wanted to buy the best TV I could afford and then use a Blu-ray player to provide the network interface. I didn’t know much about HDTVs a week ago and what I learned after about 8 hours of research and reviews is that the picture I actually see on the screen is heavily dependent on the source signal and the many different conversions the signal may go through (frame rate, aspect ratio change, deinterlacing, etc.) before it actually gets to the screen (the result of not feeding it a pure 1080p HDTV signal over an HDMI cable). I was really frustrated over looking at TVs in retail stores because doing comparisons side-by-side, I figured, was useless unless I knew what the original source video was and whether or not all the settings in the TV were set right. I ended up buying this TV because I figured it would give a great picture so long as I fed it with good source video. So far, that’s true. Right now, I only have a DVD player and a USB hard drive connected to it. My cheap little $20 DVD player outputs in 480i or 480p. The 480i signal has less jaggies on this TV than 480p. My guess is that the deinterlacer in the DVD player is low quality, so the 480p signal fed to the TV is not so good. I’m confident a 480p signal will look better once it’s coming from a decent upconverting DVD player or Blu-ray player. All my anamorphic widescreen (1.78, 1.85, and 2.35) DVDs display great with the TV set to 16×9. 4:3 TV stuff (like old X-Files videos) display properly too. DVDs are clear, crisp and smooth. I’m really impressed by the ability to play videos from a USB drive. So far I’ve played .avi, .mkv, .vob and .divx files up to 720p quality and file sizes between 500 MB and 2.1 GB. (When I hit the Info button on the remote, it looks like most of my .avi and .mkv files are encoded as MP4 and H.264, if that helps.) Windows .wmv files do not play. Quality is beautiful! No stuttering or pixilation. One problem I’ve faced, however, is the audio and video getting out of sync on some videos after about 20 minutes of play (the video starts to lag behind). I’ve been able to re-sync it by pressing stop and play. (Maybe it’ll get fixed with a firmware update? Or maybe it’s a problem with my files?) By the way, USB videos can be resumed from where you left off if you press stop or if the video stops. Once in awhile, videos will just stop on their own, but I’m able to start them again and they’ll pick up and play just fine where they left off. I don’t know if that’s an issue with the file, the USB drive, or the TV. Aspect ratio modes are limited in USB mode: I only get the option of “Original size” or “Full” (which expands the video to the entire TV). Haven’t had any problem yet with the “Full” setting because all my video files appear to be encoded in widescreen formats. The LED backlighting is adjustable, either by changing the AV mode (standard, cinema, sports, etc) or by setting the power saving feature to “Auto”. At full strength, I see some LED light vignetting at the corners of the screen when there’s just a black image being displayed. (I see the same thing on my LED PC monitors). I don’t have much to compare it to, but the remote works just fine for me. It took a little bit to figure out how to get to all the features (especially the 24P Cinema Mode, which is a couple menus deep). Sound is just fine for my tastes. The volume runs from 0 to 100 and gets plenty loud enough to be too loud when sitting about 7 feet away. Sound quality is fine and actually has a pretty good frequency response range…it’s not tinny or muffled. ClearVoice does add some crispness to voices. TruMotion is kinda neat. It “interpolates” and inserts additional frames which really smooths out motion on any video I’ve fed it so far. Sometimes the results are desirable…sometimes not. On a “I am Legend” DVD, for example, setting the TruMotion to “Low” smooths out the video and adds to the quality in my opinion. It does add a little bit of the “Soap Opera Effect”–unnaturally clear and smooth video when compared to traditional 24-frame per second movies, so I just turn TruMotion off if I don’t like the result. On some of my HD video from the USB drive, TruMotion makes motion more blurry, so I just turn it off. Again, the benefit seems to be dependent on the frame rate and quality of the original video signal. The 120Hz refresh rate and the 24P Real Cinema mode are all about displaying film and video at their native frame rates without the need to do “pull down” frame rate coversions to the video signal which can cause judder (stuttering). I’m still learning about “judder” and “pull down” so I really don’t have anything to compare good vs. bad video quality. I can say that I don’t experience any stuttering no matter what DVDs I play. I love the quality I’m getting out of this TV right now and it’s only going to get better when I can actually feed it full 1080p signals. I will definitely look at LG LED-LcD TVs when it comes time to buy a bigger TV for the living room. I learned a lot about this TV’s features by reading the online manual at LG before I bought. 2010-07-18Overall performance of LG LCD 37LE5300This LG HD LCD 27LE5300 this is an overall exceptional HD Television. The Qualify, Reliability, Performance and ease of use is the best TV performance I have experienced. I have a Samsung 52 inch HD TV and an Westinghouse 32 inch HD TV. Neither matches this LG HD TV model. The only drawback that it has is that LG does not include a paper User Manual. They provide a CD disc with the the User Manual. Since my LG is not even on the same floor as my TV, when I needed a particular answer for setup, I had to run downstairs and look it up and then run upstairs to try to apply what I looked up. This sometime didn’t work and it was back to the computer. I ended up printing numerous pages to setup the TV correctly. I still give this TV 5 stars due to the mostly ease in setting up with out the manual.

2010-06-27Perfect for Blu-ray and GamingI purchased this HDTV off Amazon about two weeks ago, and I am beyond pleased with it. I replaced a 26″ Vizio 720p LCD with this. The features that really drove me to this TV is the LED backlighting and the 120Hz processing. This TV has a stunning picture quality with some of the deepest blacks and great color. The 120Hz TruMotion has really gotten me though. It makes everything much more realistic, almost to a point to being scary sometimes. Watching Blu-rays with the TruMotion on the highest setting almost takes you out of the movie. It’s beyond cinematic, and it seems like I’m just looking out a window watching the actors in real life. It’s not bad by any means, and in fact, I can’t go back to not having it, but it may be too much for some people. You do have the option to adjust it, and you can even turn it off altogether. I use this TV currently for the following devices: an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Gateway PC, and Comcast Digital HD package. Gaming is great. I’ve noticed everything I’ve played so far has been super smooth and the response time is phenomenal. I’ve tried the following 360 games on it with great results: Halo 3, Need for Speed; Shift, Alan Wake, Modern Warfare 2, and Split/Second. The Wii looks a bit worse on this TV than on the small Vizio, but I imagine it’s the increased screen size. I have the Wii hooked up with component cables and set to 480p widescreen, but playing Super Mario Galaxy 2, The Conduit, No More Heroes 2 looked kind of bad. I know the Wii is not an HD console, but it’s a bit disheartening to see some of the better Wii’s graphics downgraded. Now, with the PS3, I don’t game to much, and I’ve yet to play a game on it with this TV, but as far as the Blu-ray goes, it’s been outstanding. This TV is enough to make me just skip the theater and wait for movies to release on BD. Blu-ray movies have such amazing clarity on this set, and the 3-dimensional feel is incredible. I played The Dark Knight, and the movie is so deep. With this kind of picture, I think I can wait a decade for 3D HDTVs to prove themselves more worth it to me. My Comcast HD looks nice, too. I know it’s not 1080p, but there’s no complaint. The TruMotion is great in the case of sports, and watching Braves baseball is more enjoyable due to it. I’m loving my TV, and I’d say traditional LCDs should be no more. LED is so much better, and the LGs are priced very reasonably. I can’t believe I got this for $850.

2010-06-21Stunning picture, energy efficient!I bought this model to replace an already great 720p LCD HDTV, but wanted an LED model. The LG doesn’t disappoint. Stunningly clear and deep picture presents an almost 3D effect especially when viewing Blu-ray discs, and uses only 60% of the energy of the non-LED model. Definitely worth the upgrade.

Samsung UN46C7000 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)Great picture. Turn off the Auto Motion PlusFantastic picture quality! Easy to set up and use. Shippers were great, unpacked the TV and made sure it worked before they left. The only complaint is I spent my 1st whole night wondering why all my shows looked the Soap Operas. Turns out this is caused by Samsung “Auto Motion Plus” feature that adds extra calculated frames to the video stream. Turning this off made the picture look as I expected (i.e. Law and Order’s proper gritty/jerky camera motion when the detectives are on the street). When this mode is off the tv is still running at 240Hz, but shows the same frames unaltered over and over just like the movie theater does rather than trying to “make stuff up” in between frames. I now only turn on the “Auto Motion Plus” when watching hockey.

Refresh rate is so high that the pictures looked fake (in a good way). Buying this is like having an art peice in your room. Even the remote controls are state of the art design. It looks metallic and expensive. When my girls come over they look at it and play with it cause it looks that good. WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS FOR THE 3D. Buy it for the LED TV. This 3D is the worst I have seen. The quality for 3D is so poor that I invited 4 friends over the see it. One got dizzy, the other ones said the picture looks fuzzy. Which is true, they blur the background making the image quality fuzzy just to create a 3D effect that is garbarge to my eyes. If I stared at it for too long my eyes might bleed. I hope this is a firmware issue and that samsung can eventually update this technology…. Even with the “free” 3D glasses they gave me, I can honestly say it was not worth it. 4 Stars for the LED TV. ZERO stars for the 3D technology Samsung invented.

After purchasing this TV, on the second day, the menu would pop up and try to change to component or another mode (like store demo mode) or it would change the viewing settings from “normal” to the “spanish soap opera” looking one while we were watching TV. The bottom right of the screen has a red light that indicates that the remote is being used and it was constantly flashing during the times it was acting possessed or someone was inadvertently sitting on the remote. After taking out the batteries on the remote, it continued. In fact, it got so bad that we couldn’t do anything with the TV, we couldn’t even turn it off- we had to unplug it for a bit. Then it would be ok for a short while. After calling Samsung, they directed us to a local TV repair place. We described the problem and they contacted Samsung. The TV repair place didn’t even bother coming out, they wanted to order the part that was necessary to fix it. Because of this issue and the flashlighting in the corners of the screen, we decided to return it. I honestly didn’t want a TV that had to be worked on after the second day. The TV repair place was really pressing us to get it fixed, but Amazon said they would not take it back if it had any work done on it. So we returned it as is. We have been waiting for the refund to get the UN46C8000, and I started looking at the reviews and the comments for that one. Apparently, others have been having this problem with the other model as well! So just be careful. I don’t know how well it works after being fixed, but it appears to be a very common problem with this years models.

I purchased a expensive Monster 3D HDMI cable and I suggest that you do the same. I actually didn’t want to after I saw how much I was spending on this purchase but then I was talked into it because I had the 3D TV and the 3D blu ray so I said what the hell I might as well get the 3D HDMI. Boy am I glad I spent the extra money for the cable. Just watching normal blu ray DVD’s, the picture quality is so life like it is ridiculous. When watching a 3D DVD it was so awesome to be able to see the items popping out of the TV. Also the ability to up-convert 2D DVD’s to 3D was so awesome. I popped in the 300 blu ray DVD and up-converted it to 3D and it was still pretty awesome. I enjoyed every minute of it. The only thing that I would suggest with a 3D TV purchase is to make sure that your couch is back far enough to get a clear picture. If you are to close to the TV you will see the double vision but if you are back far enough it will be gone.

At times I have had the sound at full volume to hear programs and movies when they are talking at a normal level. I ordered a home theater sound system(onkyo HT S5300 7.1) and am waiting for its arrival. The 3D is very good and the glasses,eventually,are not even that noticeable on your face as I have got up and walked away and did not immediately notice I had them on. I also wear regular glasses and they fit right over them with no problem. I have not noticed any edge lighting as others have seen. I highly recommend this item.

I agree that there were some lighting issues when the room is dark, you can see the lights on the corners. It doesn’t really bother me but I do agree that when you’re paying this much for a tv, it has to be “perfect”. Im not a videophile, im a regular guy who works 9-5 and wants to come home to a nice house and to a nice tv. Every since we took deliver of this bad boy, i got to score a free HDTV receiver from DirecTv, it hasn’t been the same. Im always in the living room watching tv. I d/l and installed the latest usb firmware so I can use the netflix app (worked like a charm) which fixed the lighting issues a little bit but not to the point where it’s gone throughout. When my wife tells me she regrets getting the tv cuz’ I don’t watch tv with her anymore in our bedroom, it shows im enjoying the tv wayyyy to much! Don’t get me started when I have friends over to use the PS3 on it. Just absolute amazing.

SaveSamsung UN55C7000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)I wanted to like it. I really did.I couldn’t pass the C7000 when I spotted it at my local Fry’s for almost 1000 less than it is at most places. I immediately planned to move my 2.5 month old Vizio 552 into the bedroom which had replaced an “old” LG 46″ which is now in my bedroom, and then the hand-me-down cycle continues as my son would get the 46″ and his 42 would head to the guest room. The C7000 is just one sexy looking machine and would look fantastic on a wall with a thin mount. I brought it home, hooked it up on top my AV rack below and in front where my 552 is mounted. I un-boxed the C6900 and glasses somewhat giddy to play with my new toys, but as I was plugging in the cables I noticed something. I have reflective surfaces everywhere in my living room, from cherry floors to glass tables and a chandelier in the dining room that never annoyed me in the slightest with the other TVs. The screen on the C7000 is not just shiny, it’s annoyingly glossy. Ok, it’s not on yet, I can’t pass judgment based on how it looks when it’s off. I close the shades, queue up Monsters versus Aliens, and hit the dim lights button on my harmony. The color and contrast looks ok, better color out of the box than my 552, but contrast is only ok. I tinker a bit and get it looking a little better. The 3d shutters seems somewhat out of sync. I have an Acer 24″ 120hz monitor for my gaming computer with a pair of GTX285s and a nifty set of nvidia 3d glasses to compare the Sammy to. For encoded 3d content, the C7000 with C6900 is only giving marginal depth over what nvidia does converting my 2d games to 3D. WoW(World of Warcraft) is great in 3d. The polarizing of the glasses helped mask my next horror. I change inputs to my Sony CX690 and load up Avatar. It looks pretty good until I hit a dark scene and not only notice every feature in my living room being reflected back to me, even in a fairly dark room. There is also some really harsh light coming from the corners, and cloudiness akin to sitting at 175° off angle looking at the Vizio with local dimming on. I change to an anamorphic movie and oh the horror. Light bleeding from every corner, clouds bleeding into the black bands, just terrible. I opened the shades and curtains, turned on the lights in the room and sat down to give it one last try in a typical non movie night situation. I made it about 30 minutes into last weeks survivor from the U-verse DVR playing with every setting I could, then decided that I had enough. I boxed it up, loaded in the truck and took it back. Why not the 8500? The bezel is hideous to me, and after seeing the glossy screen of the C7000 I’m not interested in another glossy screen. Pros: Slim and Sexy DLNA (took no time at all to get some movies playing from my HTPC and main rig) Better internet app selection than Vizio Great color reproduction Cons: Poor 3d implementation, bad shutter lag(your eyes catch the shutter opening and closing leaving glimpses of black) mediocre sound annoying glossy screen bleeding light cloudy lighting 240hz motion smoothing mutes the picture making 1080i look pretty terrible. Bottom line. I think Samsung needs to try again. It’s sad when a TV that is significantly cheaper from a “no name” company outclasses it on almost every front except the ability to watch monsters versus aliens in 3d(a poor attempt at 3d at that) :p I think I will wait for the Vizio Pro 72″ later this year. While my Vizio 552 isn’t perfect and doesn’t have 3d, it will get me by until someone can take a better stab at 3d and pique my interest again. I was tempted to give this 1 star, but between price I paid, shear sexiness, and good geek toys I had to give it a little bump.
