I have to admit, I wasn’t to thrilled when the 1st images of the Slim popped up. I have always loved how my 60gb PS3 Console has looked and performed over the years. but now that I have a Slim in my hands is a nice piece of hardware and for $299, no other gaming console can hold a candle to it. Pros: Its lighter, Quieter, and more energy efficient. Watching DVD’s or Blue Ray movies was kind not my favorite thing to do because once the fan kicked on I wasn’t pleased. Now this thing runs as quiet as can be and I am loving it. The console being lighter is also a plus. Now when I pick it up, I don’t have to worry as much about dropping it. The larger it is the harder it will fall. Also, while I liked how the gloss finish looked the switch it a matte finish was a good idea. The gloss looked prettier but over the years, it has collected many scratches, marks that cannot be removed, and dust collection is more visible on the gloss. With the matte, I suspect after a few years the console will still look as new as it did on day one. The gaming experience is unchanged. Cons: The only real complaints I have is that the features still don’t quite stand up to that of the 60gb model. Without Backwards compatibility, memory card readers built in and 2 additional USB its a bit of a let down for those of us who own the original 60gb model. While these features might not mean a whole lot to new buyers, they are still nice to have. the only other thing I can think of that’s a con, is that the start up time seems to lag a bit behind the fatter models. while I have no conclusive evidence for this, I have noticed load times to be a few seconds longer. This is not something that will ruin the experience or should keep you from purchasing one by any means. It’s just something I have noticed having been an owner of the original launch system. Other then that this is a great buy. You cannot go wrong. With the system only being $299 and having a great line of exclusive games coming down the pike, this is the ultimate system to own. The old complaints of “it doesn’t have any games” and “its too expensive” are long gone. With the 360 Elite, a system plagued with hardware and OS failures and no blue ray player priced the same; the PS3 is the way to go. Most stand along Blue Ray players (good ones. Not Vizio or Magnavox, I am talking Sony and Samsung player) still priced at $299 or more, the PS3 Console is still the best Blue Ray player on the market for the money. Get this console if you looking into buying a gaming system. Free Playstation Network is also a plus.

Great deal as I got this TV from Amazon for $1300 with a free Samsung BluRay player, with 2 years of 0% interest on the Amazon Store Card. As for the TV, I use it primarily for playing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 video game on XBOX and it looks amazing (turn on the Game Mode for this). I have also hooked the TV up to my desktop computer with a DVI converter to HDMI cable input and the 46″ monitor is awesome. The only thing that I would warn people is the LED side lighting. If you are a real stickler on having your blacks ultra black, this TV might bother you. When I am watching the TV show 24 on this TV, and it goes to all black with the yellow time in the middle, you can see puffy areas of the black screen that look a little brighter than other portions (appears greyish). If this will bother you, don’t get this TV. To me, going from no TV to this TV is an amazing change so I can live with the inconsistency of an all black screen. Other than this everything is easy to use, the remote, the menus, and of course the picture quality is awesome!

Internet widgets 6. Lower LED power consumption Cons 1. I did notice pixilation in one fast moving scene on HD cable – this issue prevented this TV from being a 5. The previous LCD we had in our room had pixilation all the time. So this is still a big improvement for us. 2. Screen uniformity – when the screen is full black, you can see brighter spots along the top and bottom. Not noticeable during most viewing The light uniformity issue and pixiliation (although I have only noticed once). May be big issues for potential buyers. But I am happy with my purchase as the stunning picture, thin footprint and lower energy consumption strongly outweigh the negatives in my book.

Still looking for a return to the same two brands … Samsung and LG. The final selection was based on my part. I am not a Blu-ray Disc (yet.. Hahhaha) or other high-end devices that require HDMI. My part is about 5-6 years and it works, but no HDMI inputs. All 2010 and late 2009 LCD / LED models only HDMI, which will also upgrade folder. B650 is the best of HDMI, composite and component input for all of us who do not already have the latest and greatest electronics. DVDs look amazing on the road … can not wait for Blu-ray. I also own a 40-inch Samsung LCD and 1080p 60 Hz, and the HD package from my satellite provider is a clear difference in brightness b / w them. Family and friends will be awe-inspired image. The image is literally out of the box, without modification. Currently I’m trying to convince my dad to buy to replace his 11-year-old monster-box 4:3 TV, which is dying a slow death. Very satisfied with my purchase. I hope that more than 6 years old, than my Hitachi LCD. And one more thing … tv bought by amazon.com, and no other online retailer. I was very skeptical about buying something so big and expensive online. Order was extra safe from my credit card and well-coordinated and timely. Setup was easy out of the box. I looked online to calibrate the tv little tweaking, but everything was a little pricey.

I’m loving this TV. I have other LCD TV’s in the house and the Samsung outshines them all as far as picture quality is concerned. I have it hooked up to my FIOS set top box and Blu-Ray player via HDMI and the picture is stunning! The blacks are deep and the colors are vibrant and accurate. I haven’t even played with the picture controls or calibrated it yet. But so far it looks great right out of the box. One thing worth mentioning is that when you have the 120hz enabled movies tend to look like they were shot with a digital video camera. They lose their film-like look. Sort of the way a soap opera looks. But if you disable this feature then movies will look more film like. Some people like the way movies look with the 120hz enabled. I personally like the look of film so I keep it disabled. I only enable it when I’m watching a fast moving event such as a soccer game etc. Another thing I’d like to point out is that the screen on this TV is shiney. It does not have a matte finish. I personally love the way the glass screen looks. I feel it makes the picture look clearer. I have 3 other LCD TV’s all with matte screens and they don’t look nearly as good. The same goes for my laptops. I have a laptop with a matte display and one with a glass/shiney display and the shiney display looks so much clearer. However, with that said, I can see where some people may not like the glass finish if they have bright windows sitting directly behind the TV. My windows are on the side so I don’t have that problem. Overall I couldn’t be happier and am so glad I decided to go with a Samsung TV. I orignally was going to get a Vizio but after comparing the picture qaulity between the 2 TV’s the Samsung was a no-brainer. I don’t see how anyone couldn’t be happy with this set?

Fantastic TVThis tv is great. I took it out of box, put it on my tv stand, pluged everything in and it worked great. I have my digital cable dvr box and ps3 connected to it via HDMI. The HD channels look great and the watching Blue ray movies is amazing.I’m not a up on all the latest tech but I think this tv is one of the best I’ve seen. The picture quality is fantastic and it is very easy to set up.

Still Happy with ChoiceI spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for the perfect TV. I finally settled on the Samsung LCD 55 inch. A month later and I am still happy with my choice. The two things I was worried about was glare and motion blur. Both of which is not an issue for this TV. I don’t see how the picture could get any clearer. I paid $2,000 at Sears counting taxes and delivery. Don’t overthink it and don’t spend a lot of time getting hung up on the specs. In summary, this is a great TV and I have no issues after a month of use.

WOW what a pictureI looked and looked for just the right LCD tv for the right price, didn’t care if it was sony, RCA, samsung, but when i watched my sisters samsung LN55B650 I fell in love, the picture was so clear and crisp, and what got me was it wasn’t a HD DVD or Blu-Ray it was just a plain ole DVD. So I started shopping, at first I was looking at no more the (…) bucks and around a 52″, I was just about ready to get the LN52B650 at sears for (…), and after taxes I was up to (…). I went on amazon looking for an old movie DVD when I notice a samsung LN55B650 for (…), to make a long story short I spent (…) on this bad boy and man I am going over my DVD movies again. BuyingSamsung LN55A950 55 Inch Full HD 1080p 120Hz LED LCD HDTVLN55A950 ReviewI’ve wanted a High Def TV for several years and wanted to replace a CRT in the bedroom and living room. I spent way to many hours reviewing TV’s online and in stores but decided to take the plunge for the bedroom needs first. I had the choice boiled down to 3 sets, the Sony 40W4100, 40XBR4 and the Samsung LN40A650. Ultimately I pikced the samsung and have not regretted the choice. I have been very impreseed with the black levels (50K to 1 contrast) as well as the most important feature, non high def picture. The set has incredible off angle viewing as well as a myriad of picture settings. I am a techno junkie and have tested almost every variant of picture adjustments they offer. In the end I just set it on Dynamic mode and let it do its thing. In December of 2008 I decided the address the living room needs and again went back to study all the options. In the 3 month gap from obtaining the bedroom setup Samsung released the A950 series. The list price was shocking but not as shocking as Sony’s XBR 8 Series. While the Sony has received great reviews I ultimately choose the LN55A950 and paid a little under 4K from crutchfield. (they will negotiate if you send them links to other etailers) I have to say this was absolutely the right choice. This unit is coupled with a Samsung BD-P2550 Blue Ray player and is outright the best picture for the money on the market today. Even Samsung’s new LED TV (actually still and LCD) does not get the rave reviews as the A950. I highly reccomend you look at this TV is your in the market.

The Samsung LN55A950One of the best HD-TV sets on the market (if not the best) with top of the line auto motion plus 120Hz and an amazing 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Its sleek design is impressive as is its astounding picture. Full 1080p HD videos look better on this unit than on any other HD-TV. Out of the box the first thing you notice about this set is its stylish design, the “Touch of Color” red that accompanies the edges of its frame compliment its glossy black exterior. One should note that the series 950 is very slim for a 55 inch LCD which is a plus for my particular media cabinet. At its core the colors of the 950 are definitely more vivid than on those of previous models such as the Samsung series 540 or even the ever popular Samsung LN46A650. Once the unit is powered on a simple musical tone is played and from there it takes only seconds (3-4) for the unit to display its first image. Be aware that some have referred to seeing reflections or a “halo” which occurs around the upper glossy frame of the set under certain lighting. While I have seen this myself I should note these instances are rare and will not distract you from the image on screen so for me this is a non issue. Oddly the 950 also includes a built-in hard drive (1 GB in size) and comes pre loaded with games, recipes, work-out tips, and even gorgeous HD art. While an interesting feature, this exercise is meant only as a preview of the potential uses of TV’s in the future as all the included material is mostly forgettable. You can also attach your own USB hard drive to this TV via wiselink. To take advantage of this feature I purchased the Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player. With it I can see the full potential of 1080p HD videos such as Blu-ray but without the hassle of discs or the need for a disc player. Finally any one looking to purchase a new HD-TV set should seriously consider this one as I have yet to see any model top the 950.
